new Poe book by Chris Semtner!

It looks like everybody's favorite Poe Museum curator, Chris Semtner, is coming out with a book called Edgar Allan Poe's Richmond: The Raven in the River City.

I've known Chris for a while now, mostly just from being a major lurker around the Poe Musuem, and he's a super friendly and knowledgeable guy. His work at the museum bringing fresh perspectives to an aging topic is always stellar. He never runs out of ways to examine how much Poe has influenced life as we know it.

As Harry Kollatz points on out in his article on the book, Chris has got multiple book signings coming up, so take advantage of having a Poe expert in your city and go meet him.

  1. I liked the bit in the article where they refute the story that John Cusack came to the Poe Museum to do research. “If he had, maybe the movie would’ve been better,” Semtner says.

    Zing!

  2. Yeah! Haha. I'm not seeing that movie in the theater, partly because of your article and partly because of I've grown very squeamish when realistic violence is involved in movies. :\

  3. Chris will be doing a book signing at Shockoe Hill Cemetery -- where so many of Poe's friends, enemies and lovers (real or purported) are buried -- on Sunday, June 3 at 3:00. The Cemetery is at Hospital and 4th streets. Park in the Cemetery, through the Bates Street entrance. Signs will direct you.
