At long last: INSIDE the Pump House!

From richmondvirginiaparks.blogspot.com:

If you are interested in the paranormal, you may want to be at the Pump House on Saturday, March 6, between 10:30 a.m. and noon. That's when Robert Bess and his team from the Foundation for Paranormal Research will attempt to capture and contain ghosts and other "foreign entities" at the Pump House. Bess will discuss his theories and explain his equipment.

He has advised the department that this event is not appropriate for children or the faint of heart. It is free and open to the public, and cameras are allowed.

The Pump House is located just north of the Boulevard Bridge.

And from the Foundation for Paranormal Research’s founder, Robert Bess:

                            PRESS RELEASE

On March 6th 2010 the Foundation for Paranormal Research will be demonstrating cutting edge technology involving paranormalcapture and containment of "ghosts" or foreign entity's within ourpersonal world. This event is called The 3 Mile Lock Experiment -Conquest. The foundation’s founder Robert Bess, along with his technical containment team, will demonstrate the real existence of ghosts and other worldly entities by actual capture and containment of real ghosts using the foundation’s inventions and techniques. An explanation of the equipment, the theories, and practical applications etc will be given before the event. The environment will be fully lit and fully visible. This is a rare opportunity for skeptics and
non-committed believers, etc.

An added attraction will be the "Parabot," as seen on Ghost Adventures Live, the 7 hour lockdown at Trans Alleghany Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia shown on The Travel Channel. Parabot will be capturing and containing ghosts and showing off its abilities. The foundation will also be demonstrating how its latest invention,  "The Tesla Tower," works. There will be two fully active Tesla coils  firing during the demonstration. The coils will be producing over .2.6 million volts of raw uncontrolled energy - wild and attractive arcsfrom the coils.

The public is most welcome to attend and bring cameras and video  recorders. The foundation rarely puts on demonstrations of this nature exposing some of its inventions. The purpose of the event is to truly open the public’s eyes to the real world that we share with the dead and the effects on our daily lives.

A notice of WARNING: this isn't something young children should attend due to the nature of what is going to be demonstrated - apparitions of the dead, some harmless, some hostile and not very pleasant to view. Anyone with a heart condition or who is easily distressed also should not attend.

Last but not least, there will be an announcement by the founder referencing to his personal involvement with the paranormal - a kept secret that NO ONE has known about him - a sworn secret that he now has been given permission to be announced to the world.

Of course we Midnight Society screamsters have been chomping at the bit to get inside the Pump House for years.  And although the idea of containment has been brought up before (ahem, "Light is green, trap is clean."), I can't say it sounds feasible in the least...but it sure sounds like a fun Saturday morning. I'm covering this event for RVANews, and I can't WAIT.  I'm sure I'll find much to blog about here as well.

  2. I saw this guy, or someone similar a couple years ago at the pumphouse. He had a contraption that resembled a telephone booth with a strobe light and smoke machine inside. Theatrical and hokey, for sure, but entertaining nonetheless.

Btw, the pumphouse is open, (or was, for a while) most saturdays in the spring and summer, and the volunteers are happy to show you around.
